What happens when someone needs an abortion? “abbruch” traces the path through reproductive healthcare in Saxony-Anhalt: from the first consultation to the question of whether and where a procedure can take place at all. At its center is Manon, who had an abortion in Halle in 2025. Her story forms the throughline across three episodes: before, during, and after.
Her personal experience is set against perspectives from medicine, politics, research, activism, and counselling. The result is an essayistic, three-part podcast that foregrounds a care infrastructure shaped by a small number of doctors, long distances, counselling centers, political decisions, and individual discretion.
The series is being released ahead of the Saxony-Anhalt state election on September 6, 2026, and situates itself within the current political debate on reproductive rights.
