Plato's myth of Er tells us about the music of the spheres, a cosmic phenomenon. It brings the universe together in a harmonic sound sung by sirens. The music of the spheres is a metaphor for our musical scale and the intervals we know today. What cannot be heard by the physical ear is given a symbolic voice. Allowing the unseen structure of the cosmos to come alive by sound, and polyphonic chants.
