Who will be European Journalist of the Year 2024?
Who will be European Journalist of the Year 2024?
PRIX EUROPA wants to honour a European journalist who has gone outside her/his comfort zone and shown extraordinary creativity, courage and impact on her/his specific society or audience. We are looking for a journalistic game-changer dedicated to the truth in the thicket
of global disinformation.
A person immune to political propaganda and populism aiming to provide transparency,
ready to go out and get to the bottom of things, find out the truth and inform the world. Somebody whose work has helped break through encrusted positions and change perspectives.
Proposals from all genres and formats of journalism are welcome.
Please put your candidate for the PRIX EUROPA Award as European Journalist of the Year 2024 forward by sending her/his name, contact details and a short explanation for your proposal.

274 media organisations in Europe have followed our call and submitted a total of 646 audio, digital media and video productions.
After a thorough pre-selection process 161 outstanding productions from 27 countries have been chosen to compete in October for the coveted PRIX EUROPA Awards as Best European Productions of the Year 2024.

Competition for the Best European Audio, Digital Media and Video Productions of the Year 2024 awarding 18 PRIX EUROPA trophies.
A unique and transparent system of open Jury Groups is at the core of PRIX EUROPA: Each Jury Group reviews all the entries of the respective category together, discusses them in public and then assesses them using a points system. All media professionals are invited to register as Jury Group Members.
If your agenda does not allow for a stay from beginning to end, register as Observer which will enable you to attend presentations and discussions you are interested in – just without voting rights. Personal Registration to PRIX EUROPA is free of charge.
On Sunday, 6 October 2024 at 16:00, the doors of Haus des Rundfunks, rbb, Masurenallee 8-14, 14057 Berlin, will open for accreditation,
followed by an initial Get-Together in the evening for all PRIX EUROPA participants.

Innovative Audio formats and concepts aimed at communicating music to audiences and delivering a meaningful listening experience. The focus is on how to open new doors for audiences to hearing, discovering music.

Under the Patronage of the European Broadcasting Union – EBU Music.
The registration of an entry to PRIX EUROPA 2024 implies full acceptance of the

PRIX EUROPA Best European Online Projects 2024
The PRIX EUROPA 2024 competition is open to excellent online content.
We accept the full range of online media projects: cross-platform projects, web-based, AI, AR or VR productions, apps, etc. All entries will be judged on their ideas, the way they have been executed, their quality, their commitment to public values and audience reach relative to genre. Prizes will be awarded to the projects which best explore and use the potential of Digital Media.

PRIX EUROPA Best European Online Youth Project of the Year (Online projects with a target audience up to 25 years.)

Grant available for a two-day training event for Europe’s audio talent by Europe’s best radio documentary makers.
Apply now for a scholarship to the Åke Blomström Masterclass delivered at the start of this year’s PRIX EUROPA (5 & 6 October 2024) in Berlin.
During the two-day Masterclass you will have the unique opportunity to learn from the best radio documentary makers in Europe, to glean their secrets and get their advice.
If you have gathered your first steps in documentary audio, this is your opportunity to pitch your ideas and projects and become part of a network of future feature makers all around Europe. All participants will receive an Åke Blomström Masterclass Certificate.
To be eligible for one of ten scholarships, submit
a 5-minute edited audio production demonstrating the creative use of audio (with English translation as pdf or subtitle video)
a CV,
a covering letter outlining why you wish to attend the Åke Blomström Masterclass
a sketch (max. 1 page) of a documentary project in audio that you might like to pitch there.
The scholarship includes a travel allowance of 500 euros.

PRIX EUROPA 2024 Student Award - Rising Star
The competition for the PRIX EUROPA Rising Star Awards is open to students from European film- and media schools, universities and training institutions. It is looking for audio and video projects of max. 15 minutes in length that show vision, distinct thought and also public responsibility.
Submit your productions by 1 September 2024 to submissions@prixeuropa.eu.
Please send the following:
a) application letter including the following information:
Your name and contact details.
Name of your school/university, etc.
Names of writer, director, cinematographer, producer and other key staff.
Production dates and
Project description / synopsis.
b) For each audio / video submission we need an English subtitled video (.mov or .mp4) - this also applies to all audio submissions without exception!
All files should be made available to us via a link that can be used for downloading.
By submitting, you agree to make your project available for viewing online at www.prixeuropa.eu if it is nominated.
Please make sure that you have cleared all rights.
Pre-selection results will be published online on 1 October 2024:
Entries nominated for the competition will be available online for viewing and voting from 5 to 9 October 2024 on www.prixeuropa.eu.
The winners will be announced during the PRIX EUROPA 2024 Awards Ceremony

PRIX EUROPA 2024 is calling on all European public media professionals to submit their best and most innovative productions. Share your stories
whether they were streamed or broadcast or both,
are radio or podcast,
linear or non-linear television,
cross-platform projects,
apps, or any other innovative digital media project.
The competition 2024 is open in 8 categories to content that is funded / co-funded by public service media and will award 15 PRIX EUROPA to the best European Audio, Digital Media and Video Productions of the Year 2024.
The submission platform will be open from 3 May to 1 July 2024.
Make sure to have a close look at the PRIX EUROPA 2024 Competition Regulations and the information you need to fill in the submission form.
Once you have sent the completed submission form you will receive an upload link. This link is valid until 1 July so you have time to check the technical requirements. Only files that meet these requirements can be uploaded successfully.
Please note the new PRIX EUROPA IRIS: The Special Prize under the Patronage of NTR - the Dutch Public Broadcaster - will be awarded from now on to the production that deals particularly well with identity, diversity and inclusion selected by a special jury from ALL nominated submissions (audio, video, digital media).
The List of Nominations for PRIX EUROPA 2024 will be published online on 23 August 2024.
The Winners will be announced in the evening of 11 October 2024 at the PRIX EUROPA Awards, where they will each receive a beautiful handcrafted PRIX EUROPA Trophy.

The PRIX EUROPA Steering Committee has elected its new President on Saturday, 28 October 2023: Jean-Paul Philippot, Director General of Radio-Télévision Belge de la communauté Française – rtbf, reacted to his appointment by the Committee members representing 20 European public broadcasters with the words:
“I am deeply honoured to take on the presidency of this festival, which showcases the best of European audio, video and digital media programming.
I firmly believe that European public service media constitute an unrivalled showcase for creativity and diversity in all its forms and formats, and act as a strong advocate of investigative journalism.

The second day of the competition has started...
Today the PRIX EUROPA 2023 Digital Media Projects category will kicked-off with the Workshop ‘How to be ready to compete with the streaming giants?’ starting at 10:00. And today the jury members of the TV Investigation and the TV IRIS category will begin to select among the nominated programmes the Best European TV/Video Investigation and TV/Video IRIS programme of the year 2023.
During the breaks all delegates have the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from all over Europe over coffee and snacks @ Café Europa.

Since the Age of Enlightenment, journalists have worked to educate the public about real events that are of concern to the individual or to society as a whole. Journalists and media makers who inform, report or entertain in this way make democracy possible. They provide the content that helps people to orient themselves in the world, to form their own judgments, to engage in reasonable debate and to make decisions.
Without independent reporting, there are no informed citizens; without informed citizens, there is no democracy.
The PRIX EUROPA brings together representatives of our continent's public service media, whose excellence spans all genres. They gather in a historic place. Here, at Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin, the Nazis used radio to spread darkness with their propaganda.
Today you are invited to present your journalistic skills and artistic visions. Because they stand for the opposite. We look forward to seeing you and the brightness of your works!
